Yushu is part of an isolated corner of China where centuries-old traditions are still very much a part of daily life and nature awaits you at every turn, from the horseback racing festivals, to the active monasteries, to the yaks grazing on the flowery grasslands.
On April 14, 2010, a devastating 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Yushu. With joint efforts and support from local communities and across the world, the post-quake reconstruction is now complete and we are on our way back to Yushu.
On this expedition, you will visit families in their new homes and students in their new classrooms. At the same time, you will also explore the cultures and stunning natural landscapes, including intricate murals and architecture, an ancient Tibetan Buddhist kingdom, and diverse wildlife at the headwaters of Asia’s three great rivers. Join us, as we venture back to Yushu, a land and community emerging from recovery with spirit in remote western China.
